Monel 400/UNS N04400 sheet/bar/pipe
‌Monel series alloy ‌ is a nickel as the main component, and add copper, iron, manganese and other elements of the alloy. It consists of two main alloys, Monel 400 and Monel K500.
Monel 400 alloy
Monel 400 is a nickel/copper binary alloy with a chemical composition of approximately 66% Ni and 30% Cu. This alloy performs well in many corrosive environments, especially in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas media with excellent corrosion resistance. In addition, it also has good resistance to heat concentrated lye, neutral solution, water, seawater, atmosphere and organic compounds. The corrosion resistance of Monel 400 makes it widely used in the nuclear industry, power plants, seawater exchangers and evaporators ‌12.
Monel K500 alloy
The Monel K500 is an improved version of the Monel 400, with a chemical composition of roughly 70% Ni and 28% Cu, with the addition of Al and Ti elements. K500 alloy can achieve higher strength through aging treatment and is suitable for high strength applications. Although its corrosion resistance is similar to that of Monel 400, the K500 alloy exhibits better mechanical properties at high and low temperatures, making it particularly suitable for manufacturing components such as pump shafts and valve stems. In addition, K500 alloy also has good seawater corrosion resistance, suitable for the manufacture of seawater corrosion resistant centrifugal pump shaft ‌.

Monel 400 is a Nickel-Copper alloy that is resistant to;seawater and steam at;high temperature as well as to salt and caustic solutions. Alloy 400 is a solid solution alloy that can only be hardened by;cold working. This nickel alloy exhibits characteristics like good corrosion resistance, good weldability and high strength. A low corrosion rate in rapidly flowing brackish or seawater combined with excellent resistance tostress-corrosion cracking in most freshwater, and its resistance to variety of corrosive condition led to its wide use in marine application and other non-oxidizing;chloride solutions.

Features:Monel 400 has excellent resistance to corrosion by many reducing media such as sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. It is generally more resistant to corrosion by oxidizing media than higher copper alloys. Monel 400 resists pitting and stress corrosion cracking in most fresh and industrial waters. It has good resistance in flowing seawater, but under stagnant conditions, pitting and crevice corrosion is induced. Monel 400 is probably the most resistant to hydrofluoric acid in all concentrations up to the boiling point, of all engineering alloys. Monel 400 is notable for its toughness, it does not show embrittlement tendency at cryogenic temperatures. It is work hardenable.

Applications:Chemical process equipment, crude oil stills, gasoline and fresh water tanks, marine engineering equipment, valves, pumps and fasteners.
